Thinking Aloud

I met her in 1993. We were classmates from first year to fourth year in UST. Her phonecall to me just before we had to submit our application for our chosen major paved the way for me to take Behavioral Science. I call her parents Father Nature and Mother Earth (of course they don’t know). I’ve met Ate Fanny, Kuya Don, Veron and Jimmy Jun (aka Nonoy). She was there during my 18th birthday celebration. She had her photo taken while in a tricycle. We did our thesis together (and i fell asleep in the floor while they were typing away). We’ve been friends for almost 14 years. We’ve had our moments. We went separate ways after college, but we kept in touch.

Now she’s getting married. I am happy for her. And excited. Our Jing-jing is getting married.

She will enter a new phase in her life. Soon she will be a mom, and I will have another inaanak.

Hey friend, you know I am happy for you, very happy. And I can’t wait to see you, and your future hubby so I can tell him personally how lucky he is for having  you.

Had my exam today! Yey! Have now finished 5 papers. Konti na lang.

A workmate of mine is preggy with her first baby, due in August. Yey ulit.

Lastly, just got news that a good friend of mine is getting married in December. Another yey!

Of course there’s another good news that happened this week but I’d rather keep it to myself for the time being.

Saka pala, weekend na. Makakapahinga na ulit. Been a frantic week at work, plus had to study for the exam.Yeyeyey!

Here are my 10 favorite things:

1. Archie Comics - I collect them. I started reading nung college ako kasi I had a classmate who has a vast collection of digests and double digests (i can’t afford this then, you see). Tapos sabi ko sa sarili, pag may trabaho na ako, i will buy one double digest a month. Well, I wasn’t able to do it (kasi mahal din naman) but kung bibilangin mo siguro ang collection ko, it will amount (or mas higit pa) sa 1 digest/double digest per month since nagtrabaho ako. Not bad! Buti na lang may trade me.
2. Harry Potter - I have all books, all DVDs, have watched 2 of the 4 movies during the first day of screening, have spent sleepless nights reading the books and queued as early as 8am for a copy of the sixth book (and can’t wait to get the last come July 21). Yes, I will be one of the millions who will cry after reading the last page of the book (or as soon as I get my hand on my copy). Trivia - I started reading this while I was in Japan. Nung una deadma ko ung books 1 and 2 kaso after sometime na lagi kong nakikita sa Tower Books sa Shibuya (or Shinjuku ba?), nacurious ako and un na ang simula ng aking affair with HP. One time nga while reading book 1 na medyo gabi na, natakot ako (hahaha) and had to stop kasi feeling ko totoo.
3. John Grisham - I have read all books (yes, even the not so-Grisham Skipping Christmas and Bleachers) except the last one as I have only been able to borrow it last Wednesday (his first attempt on non-fiction). Reading The Firm reminded me of some place I spent a good 7 years of my life.
4. All My Life - My favorite song, period! Wag magtanong bakit, kasi di ko rin alam. Basta one day (several years ago), narinig ko sya and that’s it. I got stuck with that song. Yan daw ang aking anthem.
5. Gilmore Girls - My favorite TV show of all time, period again. Pero hindi pwedeng period lang. I have to say that this is a really good tv show. Ang galing ng scriptwriter. Pero syempre, kahit maganda ang script kung boring ang actors,  wala rin. Lauren Graham is superb as Lorelai, syempre, Alexis Bledel is perfect as Rory. Lahat ng characters patok, kahit si Paul Anka at si Kirk. Sad to know na baka last na ang season 7 but who knows. Pati pinakabossing namin nanonood nito. As in one time, out of the blue, tinanong ako san ko napanood (kasi I mentioned it sa aming newsletter). I can spend hours writing about this show (see my ongoing Favorite GG Moments posts).
6. Basketball - Yes, for a while I followed the PBA, NBA, PBL, UAAP and NCAA (pati barangay tournaments). I bought magazines and posters. I watched live games, went inside a dug out once (Alaska) and madly took pictures after pictures of players sa Ynares (ganun kalayo ang dinayo with my fellow basketball addict friends). Biggest frustration, the only time that I had a chance to have a pix with Jolas, palpakis ang camera na dala ko!!! Palibhasa hiram sa office. Grrr.
7. Leche flan - alam ko masama ito pero anong magagawa ko. I have a sweet tooth. Sa handaan sa amin, ito lang ang nirereserve sa akin ng tita ko.
8. Siomai - But I have to say na pihikan ako pagdating sa siomai. I know my siomai.
9. DVD Recorder - a life saver! Kung wala nito, di na ako nakapag-aral or nakagimik man lang.
10. Laptop - another life saver! Kung wala ito, wala kang binabasa ngayon.
