On My 30th

January 2nd, 2007 by lezew

Things I did for the first time when I reached 30:

  • drank a bottle of wine (oo after having a cocktail and a beer. kinabukasan, 4 na panadol na kulang pa)
  • went on holiday on my own
  • naglaro sa casino (nanalo ng $20)
  • nagpunta ng zoo (at aquarium)
  • nakipag-usap sa mga strangers sa Sydney para kuhanan ako ng pix (hehehe, kasi mag-1 nagtravel)

Masaya sya, promise!

30-something

December 20th, 2006 by lezew

Yes, I have turned 30. And frankly, it wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be. Since I am away from most of my friends (the mapang-asar ones to be specific), I was spared from the "jokes" that usually went with getting a year older (and wiser, if I may add!).

Anyway, there will be a separate post on what I did (and didn’t) to celebrate my 30th. This post is about the 30 "things" I am thankful for (in no particular order).

  1. Gift of Life
  2. Family
  3. Very close friends (all shapes and sizes)
  4. Education (a good one at that)
  5. And being able to continue studying up to now (when it has become more of a hindrance to my tv-watching)
  6. Work (lahat ng work, mula sa una kong trabaho)
  7. Money from work (i’m not a hypocrite, i need the money)
  8. Knowing how to drive (and having one to drive syempre)
  9. Opportunity to travel
  10. Archie Comics (at ang aking hilig sa pagbabasa)
  11. Harry Potter books and movies
  12. Gilmore Girls and Seventh Heaven
  13. The experience of living on my own
  14. and at the same time having friends i can count on in this faraway land
  15. Kiwi friends too!
  16. Basketball and Jolas (yeah, I still am a fan)
  17. Internet/Email/YM
  18. Mobile Phone/Telephone
  19. ABS-CBN now
  20. DVD recorder/Laptop/Cameras (pang entertain yan)
  21. Nature - lalo na ang beaches
  22. Teleseryes (BWN, SPM, MSKM, etc)
  23. Knowing how to cook (enough meals to get me through, hahaha)
  24. Noodles anghang (ano na lang ang buhay kung wala nito)
  25. Friendster (sige na nga!)
  26. I can carry a tune (oo, mas pipiliin ko ito kaysa sumayaw)
  27. The flat I am renting (perfect!)
  28. Love of writing
  29. Music (ni Christian, Martin, MYMP atbp)
  30. Reaching 30!

Of course there are countless things to be thankful for but sa ngayon, ito muna ang nasa listahan ko.

Merry Christmas to all! Remember to count your blessings before anything else. If you do this, you won’t have time to even think about the not so good things that have happened to you.

A New Leaf

December 17th, 2006 by lezew

At 12:00am I had a glass of wine in front of me (my third, after a cocktail and a glass of beer) and i was watching a season 2 episode of the greatest tv show on earth - Gilmore Girls.

And the celebration has just started.

Reming

November 29th, 2006 by lezew

Typhoon during the Christmas season? Now that’s something I haven’t heard for a while.

Anyway, I tuned in to ANC and found out the classes for tomorrow have been suspended in Manila due to super typhoon Reming which packs winds of up to 190/kph. I’ve been in Wellington for 32 months already and by now have gotten used to wind gusts up to 120/kph on an ordinary day. But 190/kph is something else.

Giant billboards are now being dismantled and government agencies are now preparing for the worst. They don’t want another Milenyo to happen.

Here’s praying that this super typhoon will not have devastating effects. It’s almost Christmas, all we want is to have a worry-free holiday season.

Ingat kayo diyan! Stay home if you must. Alam ko tempting manood ng sine pag walang pasok but it’s better to stay at home. I’ll be watching the news.

Saturday Morning Blues

November 24th, 2006 by lezew

S%#t!

Magising ka ba naman ng 550am! Eh di super bad-trip nga talaga. To think na past 11 na ako nakatulog. Tinapos ko pa kasi ung World’s Fastest Indian. At least di ako nainip sa panonood.

Anyway, I tried to go back to sleep but with no success, so bumangon na lang ako. At nanood ng "Maging Sino Ka Man", my morning habit.

Today is supposed to be a nice day sabi sa forecast. Buti na lang. I don’t want to keep myself holed up in the four corners of my flat. There’s a good book lying on the couch waiting for my attention. I just need a peaceful place where I can read to my heart’s delight.

Bring on the weekend. I’m ready.

But then it would have been better if I had another couple of hours more sleep.

Another Week

November 23rd, 2006 by lezew

It’s been awhile.

Well, there isn’t much to say really. Except that I had my exam last week (and had a two-day off to prepare for it, duh!) which means I should be stress-free by now. But there’s the other paper I am taking for the summer term which has thte potential of annoying me close to the Christmas break.

Nothing exciting, except going out with friends last Wednesday. We went to Cobar in Eastbourne for dinner. As always, we had fun. It’s funny how we’ve managed to still go out even if 3 of us have left the organisation where we all met and one is about to leave next month. What’s more amazing is the fact that the person who took over my role is with the group now. So we expect to still be invited in the team’s parties in the future.

I was also told late today that our IT boss will buy me two hot chocolates (he initially said latte, but I told him i prefer hot choc). Something to look forward to for next week.

I got a couple of books last Sunday, Dan Carter’s biography  (sort of) and Mitch Albom’s new book, For One More Day. I hope to get into reading mode (where no one can stop me) soon.

I hope the weather will be nice this weekend so I don’t have to stay at home all the time. I need some fresh air and play time.

Before I go, i thought I’ll share this with you. While having lunch with my colleagues today (with a bottle of wine in front of us!), my boss and someone else started talking about AQ which is supposed to be in the same category as IQ (ok ako with this), EQ (kulang dito) and SQ (i have this, i promise). So kami naman tanong what it is and none of them would say. So when i got back to the office (after scallops, choc mousse and ice cream and 2glasses of wine), I googled it. Well, meron Autism Quotient (based sa test di ako autistic pero 5 points na lang at sabit na) and Abundance Quotient (which I didn’t bother to read). But when we told the boss about it, she said she just invented it and the other just agreed to see how gullible we could be. Well at least, nadiscover kong malapit na akong maging autistic (hahaha).

Sabi ko naman sa inyo eh, wala talagang exciting na kwento. Kaya walang kwenta ang post na ito! Pasensya na, wala akong magawa. Kailangan kong magsulat.

Nice weekend everyone!

Streaming Weekend

November 11th, 2006 by lezew

I love cable internet!

I had it installed yesterday and I have so far watched over 1G worth of videos from ABS-CBN Now. While I have done that in the past, yesterday’s experience was different. Pinch me, I might be dreaming.

Anyway, it is 6weeks before I take a much needed break from work and the Wellington weather which has not been very stable (what’s new). Looking forward.

I have been logging long hours at work for the past three weeks, starting at 8am and finishing at just around 6pm. I find myself very tired at night that I am not even able to watch any TV after 9pm. Work’s been hectic with projects left and right. While I look forward to doing account management work (for a Centre at that), I also dread not being able to finish much.

The coming weeks will be very busy as well, not just at work but on the social front too. I have dinners to go to left and right almost every week with a couple of weekends already booked. But I intend to keep the weekend before I fly to out free because I have a mission to accomplish which I have been doing work on for quite a while now (with not much success).

Off to Church now!

Mabuhay ang Magigiting na Estudyante!

Ganda, LenPot and Ma Reg, congratulations sa inyong tatlo!

Next year ko na singilin ang treat ninyo sa akin (wishful thinking). Promise, masaya na ako sa one to sawa na videoke sa Music 21 (un ba ung place dati?).

Phonepal daw!

October 23rd, 2006 by lezew

I was half asleep, half awake trying to watch an old CSI episode. It was around 330pm, "nap time" talaga dapat but I’ve been successful in holding off.

Anyway, phone rings. ID said private, I picked up anyway. Then it took a couple of seconds before someone answered.

Person on the other line: Hello po. Pwedi po makipag phonepal?

Me: Ha? Sinong hinahanap mo?

Person on the other line: Gusto ko lang po makipagphonepal.

Me: Sorry. Pasensya na. Sino ulit kailangan mo? (kunot-noo at may ? sa air)

Person on the other line: Si Liezl.

Me: Sino ‘to? (malapit ng mainis)

Person on the other side: Ay ang suplada mo pala. Gusto ko lang naman makipagphonepal sa iyo. Galing pa ako dito sa…

Me: (interrupting the other person) Meeya! Ikaw yan.

Well I can’t write what transpired next kasi ang haba na noon. We had a break after an hour. Tapos balik ulit for another hour. And kung hindi siguro hatinggabi na sa North Carolina, magkausap pa tayo ngayon. Eniwei, lumamig ang noodles kong niluto pero oks lang po.

Looking forward to the next phone call! Pramis, papayag na ako makipag phone pal :-)

Fleeting

October 22nd, 2006 by lezew

It occurs at the most unexpected time.

Usually in the middle of something fun.

Mabilis lang, pero ramdam.

Tapos nawawala na lang.

Fleeting sadness.

I don’t know how.

It bothers me though.

Can someone tell me why?

(Note: I’m just thinking aloud. I don’t expect answers, really.)

Pero ‘tol, kung may explanation ka, you know what to do naman na.
